I have not worked out since before Christmas was the first thought that ran through my head when I got up this morning. Rising super early, I began to prioritize all the things I felt I needed to do before I went into work, how much time each would take and still get to that workout. God gently reminded me how stressed I felt yesterday and that I sometimes need alone time to re-charge. As always, He was right. I dropped the weight of all my to-do’s and spent an hour taking a mental break while everyone was sleeping, and the house was quiet.
I AM NOT SUPERWOMAN
As much as I would like to be super woman, able to do all the things, I am not and I am guessing that you aren’t either. Society today tells us that we can be anything we want, and we can have it all. Do you feel the pressure to have the body of an athlete, eat the perfect macros every day, dress like a celebrity, hair and make-up always on point, run a successful business, perfectly navigate a thriving marriage, have happy and well-adjusted children and amazing friendships? Whew! I’m exhausted just typing that list, yet so many of us strive daily to meet these demands. This morning, I was feeling this exact pressure.
Gratefully, I turned to God first instead of my to-do list. He reminded me that He has things for me to do which He planned before I was even born (summarizing Ephesians 2:10). If I try to do and be everything else, I will not be successful in what God has for me, which is the whole point of my life! The same is true for you as well.
SEEK GOD FIRST
Spend time talking and listening to God today then be about those things He is calling you to and let the other things go. “Seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
And don’t get me wrong…usually He nudges me to exercise. In fact, I think a quick walk before work is just what I need. Have a beautiful day!
